Do I need scaffolding for a loft conversion?

In almost all cases, yes. Any work that involves altering the roof structure, installing a dormer, re-roofing or working at eaves level requires safe access from the outside. The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require that work at height is properly planned and that suitable equipment is provided. Scaffolding is the standard solution for loft conversion work.

How long will the scaffold be in place?

For a standard dormer loft conversion the scaffold is typically in place for four to eight weeks. Hip-to-gable and mansard conversions may require the scaffold for longer. Practical Considerations for Homeowners

Access to Your Property

We will need access to the side or rear of the property to erect the scaffold. If access is through the house we will discuss this with you before the erection date. We aim to minimise disruption and leave the site tidy at the end of each day.
